Jade "Bi" Disc with I Ching Coin - pendant

  • $69.99

The history of the jewelry

The ancient Chinese used yarrow stalks and later coins to aid in decision-making, based on patterns that related to the I Ching, The Book of Change. The coins, usually strung on a cord like this Chinese pendant, typically displayed four characters on the front, two of which indicated the reigning emperor during the time of minting. Other markings may have indicated the type of currency or referenced good luck and special events, while the reverse often denoted the mint where the coins were produced.

Materials: jade disc, carved carnelian, authentic I Ching coin, faux leather cord adjustable up to 36"
Diameter: 50mm
