The history of the jewelry
Castellani, a Roman firm in the 19th century, created these earrings by adapting a brooch from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. They were known for creating ornaments inspired by ancient jewelry and also helped their clients build collections. Castellani became skilled in ancient techniques such as granulation and twisted wirework through their close contact with Etruscan jewelry.
