Urn style brooch

The history of the jewelry

The Urn-style brooch from the Viking Age dates back to approximately the year 1000 and was found on Bejsebakken in Aalborg. The brooch features a Christian motif from the end of the Viking Age, depicting the battle between a "big animal" and a snake, symbolizing the eternal struggle between good and evil forces. This theme is depicted through an elegant network design that intertwines with each other.

The urn-style of the brooch is named after the Urnes stave church in Norway, where similar animal motifs can be seen on the church's wooden portal.

The original brooch is on display at the National Museum in Denmark

Material: Sterling silver

Size: 1.61" x 2.12"
